Up until four months ago I had no experience with managing a website or writing blog posts. I loved writing and had wanted to manage a website for a while but I never had the time. Finally I had to create one for school but I was unsure where to start. So if you're in the same boat I was I have a few tips I'd like to share. In this article I will discuss writing engaging blog posts, organizing your ideas, and more. If you have any tips or comments please feel free to share them below.
So without ado, here are my five tips for website management.
#1 - Start with a template
Having complete creative freedom is great but personally I like a little structure. So starting Templates are a great way to start because they outline everything and enhance what you're trying to say. And if you use it the right way you won't need them eventually. I highly recommend wix templates. They helped me so much, especially when I was new to writing blog posts. I can definitely see an improvement and I feel much more confident when writing my blog posts.
#2 - Decide on an aesthetic
Deciding an aesthetic can be difficult but you should try to pick one if you didn't already during the design process. Just remember your website aesthetic isn't set in stone so you can change it later you want. The important thing is to have one. This makes your website is more recognizable and looks more put together. If you're using wix then you will have plenty of templates and colour schemes to choose from. These are the first things you should think about when creating/deciding on an aesthetic.
#3 - Be consistent
Being consistent and updating your site daily is probably the most important tip I can give you. Posting daily will help attract new readers and being consistent will help others see you as reliable. I recommend setting your self reminders and schedule when your blog posts are published. You can also set your blog up so your subscribers get notified when you post if you choose.
#4 - Write down your ideas
This might be a bit basic or cliche but find a place to write down your ideas. And write the down as soon as you get them. That way you don't forget them. Finally believe in your ideas because you never know what will be a success with your readers.
#5 - Ask questions
Lastly don't be afraid to look up a question you don't know the answer to. I guarantee you that someone has had the same question. On the flip side don't believe you read and make sure to cite your sources. Now that I'm in university I understand more than ever the importance of giving credit to others
Final Statements
In conclusion, use templates, decide on an aesthetic, ask questions, write down your ideas when you get them, last but not least remember consistency is key. That's all for now, thank you so much for reading. I hope this helped, have a fantastic day!
